Faculty examinations and results policies

The faculty Board of Examiners meets to finalise student results and applies the following faculty policies which relate to assessment, examinations and results:

  • The assessment policy, in particular section 5a, is applied to a student's final examination result. Students are required to obtain a mark of no less than 40% for the written examination, even if the total score for the unit is above 50%.
  • The near pass (NP) policy is also applied. Near passes (NP) may be considered for unit results of 45-49. To be eligible for a near pass, students must normally have an average weighted mark for the semester of 55 or more and have not failed more than one unit for the semester.
  • The Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences does not offer supplementary examinations.
  • Deferred examinations may be awarded as the outcome of a valid special consideration application.
