In-semester special consideration

If you are prevented from completing any assessments or attending any compulsory tutorials/practicals within semester due to any of the above acceptable reasons, you must lodge the in-semester special consideration form to Student Services within 48 hours (two working days) of the assessment submission deadline or 24 hours (one working day) after the missed class/tutorial. Please note that the absent from compulsory class form is no longer in use. 

Student Services will date the application and forward it (electronically) to the unit coordinator(s) on the applicant’s behalf, including the student in the email (via their Monash e-mail account). Student Services can assist with photocopying forms or medical certificates if students have missed multiple classes. The unit coordinator(s) will then notify the student of the outcome via the same email address.  Based on the documentation provided, the possible outcomes are:

  • extension to the submission deadline;
  • alternative or additional assessment; or
  • rejection of the application
