Clubs and societiesThe Parkville campus has a variety of social, sporting, academic, cultural and religious clubs. The Monash Parkville Student Association (MPSA) supports each of the clubs on campus. Course based clubsPharmaceutical Science Society - PSS Victorian Pharmacy Students Association - VPSA There is more to uni than just lectures and textbooks – get involved and be active with VPSA, your link between student and professional life! Not only will you broaden your awareness of your future profession, but you will also broaden your mind and friendship circle locally, nationally and internationally! Social, sporting, religious and cultural clubsASEAN Standing for the Association of South East Asian Nations, we stand for providing students with an exciting, fun and friendly social experience at uni! We generally attract but are definitely are not restricted to young adult members of Asian descent, and we are at the forefront of bridging a social gap between the Australian-Asian community. In fact, ASEAN is the largest social club of Monash University! We organise a huge selection of exciting and popular events, and work with other clubs. You'll have heaps of fun at our anticipated traditional and annual events, as well as a few premiere new events! Look out for our Summer Camp, Annual Ball, the ski trip, Cocktail Night and Poker Tournament! Australasian Union of Jewish Students - AUJS AUJS Parkville is pluralistic. It exists so Jewish students can meet each other (those from both Monash Parkville and other universities in Australasia) and mix with students of all nationalities and religious persuasions. We are not political; we are about celebrating Jewish culture and customs. Baha'i These activities include Unwind which is a chance to chill out to the words of different faiths and traditions to the sound of relaxing music. Also you may like to join ‘reflections on the life of the spirit.’ This gives participants a chance to discover the journey of the soul through a guided interactive study circle. Monash UniversityIslamic Society – MUIS Music at Parkville - M@P Rehearsals, performances and other activities are organised and held constantly on campus which allows students to share their passion in music with peers. Parkville International Students Association - PISA By organising various activities, we strive to create everlasting friendship and make uni life fun and memorable for our members. Parkville Recreation Activities Club - PRAC Parkville Recreation Activities Club (PRAC) is a unique club within the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences scene. The club aims to provide students with exciting co-curricular activities. Sports such as soccer, football, morning group runs and basketball are facilitated by the club, with matches organised amongst year levels and staff. This provides a great and entertaining way to keep fit and mingle amongst peers. PRAC is simply not only restricted to sports and budding athletes alike. Future events such as rock-climbing, dancing classes and a fishing trip are on the agenda! Remedy To educate ourselves and our community on health and Pharmacy Practice issues in underprivileged areas, both in Australia and on an international scale. To help it achieve its mission and create some fun, Remedy regularly organises events including Reality bites dinner and Soundwaves soiree evening. Shorinji Kempo - Self-defence Shorinji Kempo Melbourne is the only club in Victoria and has trained at Monash University since 1986. We are registered with the World Shorinji Kempo Organisation (WSKO) in Japan. Shorinji Kempo places no emphasis on winning or losing. Instead, it concentrates on mutual respect and understanding between training companions so that both parties enjoy the benefits of training and progress on the basis of mutual development. The essence of Shorinji Kempo practice is the development of a healthy mind, healthy body and ability in self defence. Vietnamese Health Science Students Association Victoria - VHSSA VHSSA offers a variety of events and activities to its members including: bowling nights, BBQs, a mentor night and a Dinner and Dance and more. VHSSA is open to all students regardless of race and background and hopes to improve diversity and unity within the student body of the health and related sciences fields and is affiliated with the Australian Vietnamese Health Professionals Association of Victoria. For more details email hssav@hotmail.com Working In Leading Development for Indigenous and Rural Education - WILDFIRE WILDFIRE is a multidisciplinary club with members coming from most campuses of Monash University, and the Rural Clinical Schools. We aim to raise awareness of the issues facing rural and indigenous Australians and to promote the positives of going rural. We are also able to provide support to students going on rural placements. WILDFIRE also belongs to the National Rural Health Students Network (NRHSN), a multidisciplinary Network aiming to increase the health workforce and health outcomes for rural and remote Australians. Through the NRHSN, students can also apply for funding to attend Conferences of National Significance (CoNS).
