Language & Learning sessionsShort Courses and WorkshopsCourses and workshops are run on general topics for both undergraduates and postgraduates (such as Aspects of Thesis Writing, Grammar, Oral Presentations, Writing Assignments, Reading and Notetaking). Courses and workshops are also run on discipline-specific topics such as Legal Language for Commercial Law, Writing for Sociology, Writing for Postgraduates in Engineering, etc. Information about L&L courses is available at our central offices and also through groups like MPA (Monash Postgraduate Association), MAPS (Mature Age and Part-time Students' Association), on the L&L noticeboards on each campus, in campus newsletters, etc. Contact: LLS@monash.edu.au Individual Sessions and Small Group WorkStudents can make appointments to work intensively on particular aspects of their English or their approaches to study. Individual assistance does not mean we edit or proof read your assignment, it means that we read your work in order to assist you to analyse your approach. We help you to develop strategies or learn new skills in academic writing. Appointments need to be made at least one week in advance. When many students come for assistance for one particular subject, L&L will try to organise group workshops to look at strategies for dealing with the assignment topic. Students may also approach L&L to organise a group session on a particular topic. |
