Mentor programThe Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences mentor program will assist you as a new first year student with the transition to university. The program commences in Orientation week when you will be placed in a small group with other first year students. Your group will be led by a mentor, who is a later-year student in the faculty. Your mentor will be your guide throughout Orientation week and your first semester of university. They will be there to answer your questions, get you involved and show you how the faculty and university life works.
What is a mentor and how will they help me?noun: 1. an experienced and trusted adviser; 2. an experienced person in an organisation or institution who trains and counsels new employees or students. Your mentor will help you to get settled, become connected, and ensure you are equipped to tackle university life. Mentors can share their experiences and offer advice on:
Mentors can also direct you to student services to help make your transition to university a successful one. How do I get a mentor?On Friday 18 February, 2012 the faculty will send an email to your student account which lists your mentor group number. This number will then be used to match you with your mentor group on the first day of orientation. How often will I meet with my mentor group?During Orientation week you will meet with your mentor group at least three times. At these meetings you will get to know your group, take a campus tour and get a hands-on tour of the various online learning support tools. There will also be three scheduled mentor events in the first three weeks of semester. Your mentor will tell you more about these activties during Orientation.
