Apply to be a mentor in 2010You may remember the important stepping stone O'Week played in your introduction to University life – as well as how much fun it was. Often the transition from school to university can be a difficult time for students. The Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences runs a Mentor Program where current students mentor a group of new students to make their transition to university life easier.
Applications to be a Mentor in 2010 are now open and will close on 27 November 2009. To apply please complete the online application form. Expectations of a Mentor The Mentor's job is to assist new students experience a smooth transition to university life. · attend a Mentor training session on Friday 12 February · participate in the entire Orientation Week, Monday 22 - Friday 26 February · attend compulsory mentor meetings in weeks 1-5 of semester one · provide ongoing support to new students throughout 2010 Benefits of being a Mentor The benefits of the mentor program are often intangible but you can be sure that you will be providing a fantastic service to both Monash and your fellow students. In addition, mentoring is an excellent way to enhance your leadership and people skills, and you will receive a certificate which you will be able to mention in your CV. You will also be given a gift voucher in recognition of your service.
