Honours writing skills program workshops

These writing skills sessions are compulsory for all Honours students. We have tailored these 2 sessions according to your cohort, so please note the relevant sessions you are required to attend as listed below. 

Workshop 1 : Writing an honours thesis 1 - how to maintain an overall argument of your project

In Workshop one, we will first discuss the structure of an honours thesis. We will analyse functions of each chapter/section in relation to an overall structure of the thesis, and discuss how the results of your research project can be effectively communicated in a written format. This will then be followed by discussion on oral presentation, i.e. how the results of your research project can be effectively communicated through verbal (and visual) communication.

Workshop 2: Writing an honours thesis 2 - effective composition of paragraphs

Workshop two will focus on paragraph structure and the writing of introductions and conclusions. We will analyse and rewrite sample paragraphs and discuss structure, topic sentences, transitions, referencing issues and shifts of emphasis, with the goal of making your research results not only legible but also effectively communicated.
