DisciplineStudent discipline at Monash University is dealt with under statute 4.1 – Discipline. The statue deals with two kinds of misconduct: General Misconduct is any kind of behaviour which damages or endangers people or property, or which interferes with or intimidates others. Academic Misconduct is cheating, attempting to cheat, or assisting a fellow student to cheat. Any means used to obtain unfair advantage in work submitted for assessment may be considered as cheating. Examples include plagiarism and cheating in examination. Charges of misconduct are heard by the Discipline Committee in each faculty. Where a student is found guilty of misconduct the penalty can range from fines to exclusion from the University. Students may appeal against the findings of the faculty discipline committees. Full details of the statute covering discipline are available in the Monash University Legislation and Policy pages. |
