Pathways for indigenous students

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders are encouraged to apply to study the Bachelor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science.

Each year two fee-waiver places are funded by the faculty for Indigenous students. Scholarships are also available.

Pathways to pharmacy and pharmaceutical science

I have met the year 12 prerequisite subject requirements

Year 12 Indigenous applicants who meet the prerequisite requirements (year 12 English, Maths Methods and Chemistry with minimum scores) are encouraged to apply regardless of ATAR/ENTER score. Applicants should ensure they apply via VTAC and complete a SEAS application for Category 3: Recognition as an Indigenous Australian.

I have completed the year 12 prerequisite subject but not meet the required minimum study scores

Applicants who have completed the year 12 prerequisite subjects but who do not meet the minimum subject score requirements may apply to take the Indigenous Non-Award Pathway (INAP) in chemistry. Once successfully completed, the non-award chemistry units would be credited towards your degree.

I have not completed the year 12 prerequisite subject requirements

Student who have not completed the year 12 prerequisite subjects should contact the faculty for advice on alternative pathways, such as completing first year of a science degree.

On-going support

Once enrolled, the university provides study support for Indigenous students via the Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Scheme (ITAS).
