Recorded lectures - Lectopia
Lectopia is an innovative, easy-to-use system that records lectures and presentations for delivery via the internet. Students can access lecture recordings over the internet 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at their own convenience. Audio and visuals from traditional face-to-face lectures and events are automatically recorded and processed into a variety of media formats, with minimal impact on the lecturer or presenter. Students can then access recorded lectures within hours. Parkville students have been using Lectopia for 18 months for revision and study purposes. Recordings also offers students the means to clarify concept or revisit something they may not have understood, without having to consult teaching staff before contacting teaching staff. Lectopia is available in all faculty's lecture theatres. Lecture recordings are automatically scheduled at the beginning of the semester, using timetabling information, which makes the process of recordings seamless. All that is required is for the lecturer or presenter to turn on the microphone for the recording to begin. The audio and visuals from recordings are incorporated into unit pages on Blackboard for teaching, and delivered on the public website for public presentations. They can also be compiled into CD/DVD format. Recordings are made available in a variety of formats (streaming, download, podcasting) and no special software is required to view recordings. Associated materials such as powerpoint presentations and slides can be made available together with these recordings. Audience response systemStudents answer multiple choice questions and provide feedback in lectures using a small keypad. This technology increases interaction in lectures and aids learning. |
