Will I get a Monash University qualificationif I complete the Graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice? Yes, you will graduate and receive a testamur that certifies that you have completed the Graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice.
Will I get a Monash University qualification if I complete only the Pharmacy Internship single unit program (ie. Applied pharmacy practice I and II)? No, you will not receive a formal Monash qualification; however you can purchase an official academic transcript of your results. Do I have to come to the university to attend classes? The majority of the internship program is delivered flexibly by off campus learning. Compulsory whole group face-to-face meetings occur four times during the year in a “block” mode. Each block will be of two days duration allowing for intensive work in both didactic and workshop formats. Block mode reduces the travel and accommodation costs for rural participants.
The Graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice elective units are delivered primarily by distance education mode, although some units may require a small amount of university attendance.
Can I do the Graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice if I am doing the Bachelor of Pharmacy/Bachelor of Commerce?

Most students have typically taken intermission from the Bachelor of Pharmacy/Bachelor of Commerce during their internship training year although it is mainly a question of choice. At the end of the internship period students need to then choose to continue with the Graduate Certicate (with the option of articulating to a Master of Pharmacy Practice), or reenrol in the Bachelor of Commerce.
International students Yes. Students have taken intermission from the Bachelor of Pharmacy/Bachelor of Commerce during their internship training year. At the end of the internship period students need to then choose to continue with the Graduate Certicate or reenrol in the Bachelor of Commerce. While studying the Graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice you will be on an Occupational Trainee Visa. If you return to the Bachelor of Commerce you will need to apply for a student visa. Will I be able to use the library and other Monash resources? Yes, you will be a Monash University student and will have full access to a very large database of electronic biomedical journals and databases through the Monash libraries. How many hours a week will I have to study? It is advisable that students manage their own workload according to the tasks outlined in the unit objectives. As a guide, it would be expected that graduates completing the Internship program should be completing a minimum of about 2-3 hours per week, in addition to attendance at seminars and workshops. This means graduates completing a six credit point unit would need to set aside a minimum of six hours per week (on average) during the semester (over about 13 weeks).
How many CSP (Commonwealth Supported Place–formerly known as HECS) places are available in the Graduate Certificate? The Faculty has allocated a significant number of CSP places for the Graduate Certificate and postgraduate coursework programs. Those who are not successful in obtaining a CSP place (or are ineligible for CSP) may be offered a non-CSP place.
How are students selected? A selection process may be required for students applying for the Graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice if the number of applicants exceeds the number of CSP places available. If this is the case, students will be selected on the basis of merit according to a multi factorial assessment (based on a combination of marks, CV work experience). Students who are not offered a CSP place will be offered a full-fee paying place.
