A current Bachelor of Pharmacy / Bachelor of Commerce international student in Australia on a student visa

What should a current student visa holder do to prepare for their internship year?

In order to remain in Australia to undertake the internship year, students will need to hold a valid visa. A student visa is not valid because the Internship program and the Graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice are not CRICOS registered. This means that enrolments will not be accepted from a person holding a student visa.

June 2009: There have been recent changes in government legislation regarding the cancellation of student visas prior to their expiry date. One consequence of these changes is that some student visa holders who have applied for General Skilled Migration or an Occupational Trainee visa may not have a Bridging Visa A in effect at time of course commencement. As a result, Monash University is currently reviewing their processes in relation to international students entering the internship on student visas and further information will be provided as it becomes available.
