A current Bachelor of Pharmacy / Bachelor of Commerce international student in Australia on a student visaWhat should a current student visa holder do to prepare for their internship year?In order to remain in Australia to undertake the internship year, students will need to hold a valid visa. A student visa is not valid because the Internship program and the Graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice are not CRICOS registered. This means that enrolments will not be accepted from a person holding a student visa. Applicants for the Monash internship year who are applying for General Skilled Migration (GSM) to remain in Australia will need to provide Health Wellbeing and Development (refer contact details below) with evidence of their application for GSM and granting of a Bridging Visa A. Health Wellbeing and Development will then notify DIAC to arrange for the student visa to be cancelled and the Bridging Visa A to be reinstated. International students who are not applying for General Skilled Migration must apply for an Occupational Trainee Visa (subclass 442) through DIAC (the Department of Immigration and Citizenship). Evidence of application for / granting of an Occupational Trainee visa must be provided with your application for the Internship program and the Graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice. How do I apply for an Occupational Trainee visa?Visit the DIAC website http://www.immi.gov.au/students/sponsored/otv/index.htm Once you lodge an application for the Occupational Trainee Visa, your student visa will continue to be in effect until either: - your student visa expires and you are granted a Bridging A visa If you have any questions please contact the Parkville Health Wellbeing and Development office on 9903 9635 or hub.parkville@adm.monash.edu.au What do I do to complete my Bachelor of Commerce?Once you have completed your internship year you will need to apply for a new student visa.
