Benefits of the Monash University Pharmacy Internship program

Internship program

  • Practical, relevant and up-to-date course, run by experienced pharmacists who continue to practise in hospital and community pharmacy settings;
  • More than 50 practising pharmacists involved in running the seminars, small group workshops and online discussion forums;

  • Responsive to interns' needs (as determined via regular course evaluation surveys and inclusion of interns on the Course Advisory Group);
  • Support for preceptors through provision of a preceptor guide;
  • Postgraduate  points for the internship program, allowing you to progress toward a postgraduate qualification either now or at a later date;
  • Flexible payment options - pay one semester at a time; no payments due until February;
  • Option to defer payments (through ‘HECS-HELP’ or ‘FEE-HELP’) or to receive a 20% discount for up-front payment (through HECS) for eligible students enrolled in the Graduate Certificate.

Graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice

  • Completion of the Monash Pharmacy Internship program means you are already half-way to earning a postgraduate qualification – the Graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice;
  • Elective units can be completed either during the internship year or the following year;
  • Range of interesting and relevant electives to choose from;
  • Access to a HECS place for the Internship program if you enrol in the Graduate Certificate;
  • May give you a competitive edge over other graduates when applying for jobs in the future;
  • May result in you earning a higher salary (eg. in Victorian public hospitals you will be entitled to a ‘higher qualification allowance’).
