Entry criteria and course details

Course length

Bachelor of Pharmacy: 4 years full-time +1 year internship.
Bachelor of Pharmacy/Commerce: 4 years full-time (Pharmacy) + 1 year internship + 2 years (or equivalent part-time) (Commerce)

Students would have approximately 24 contact hours per week. This is a combination of labs, practical classes, tutorials and lectures. Students would also be expected to complete around 20 hours per week of private study.

Bachelor of Pharmacy:Parkville or Malaysia
Bachelor of Pharmacy/Commerce:Parkville (Pharmacy) and Clayton (Commerce)

Prerequisites

VCE

Units 3 and 4 - a minimum study score of at least 35 in English (ESL) or 30 in any other English, and at least 30 in each of chemistry and mathematical methods (either).

International Baccalaureate

Standard level: minimum mark of 5 in English, chemistry and mathematics standard level.
Higher level: minimum mark of 4 in English, chemistry and mathematics higher level.

English language requirments

Students applying for Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences undergraduate courses must meet the Monash University minimum English Language requirements.

UMAT

All applicants (except international students*) must complete the UMAT.

Selection

Students should aim for a minimum ENTER of 90 and a UMAT score normally in the top 20th percentile to be considered for entry into the Bachelor of Pharmacy and Bachelor of Pharmacy/Commerce.  Students are admitted to the course based on results in prerequisite studies and high performance in ENTER and UMAT.  All books in the UMAT will be weighted equally.

Bachelor of Pharmacy/Commerce course structure

The two degrees are studied separately, beginning with four years of full time study at the Parkville campus for the Bachelor of Pharmacy, followed by two years at the Clayton campus for the Bachelor of Commerce. Students can elect to undertake the Bachelor of Commerce either full or part-time. Most students complete their internship year following completion of the Bachelor of Pharmacy, then go onto complete the commerce component.

* International students do not have to complete the UMAT unless they are expecting to change to Australian permanent residency prior to the year of admission.
