Bachelor of Pharmacy - Career opportunities
Pharmacists are health professionals and are part of a healthcare team. They inform and educate patients so that medication issued in a safe and effective way.
70% of our graduates work in community pharmacy. Community pharmacy is exactly that – the pharmacy in your community. As well as working in the traditional pharmacy, community pharmacists also undertake other important roles such as:
- home medicines review
- medication management
- disease state management.
25% of our graduates choose a career in hospital pharmacy. This is a sector of the industry that you may not have seen before. Hospital pharmacists are responsible for all the medication needs of patients within the hospital. They work with doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure that patients’ medication needs are optimised. Hospital pharmacists typically undertake the following roles:
- clinical pharmacy
- clinical trial management
- drug information.
The remaining 5% of graduates choose to go in another direction. A degree in pharmacy has a lot to offer a potential employer. The qualification is versatile and can lead in many directions including:
- pharmaceutical consulting
- education and academia
- industrial pharmacy
- medical publishing
- research and development.
Bachelor of Pharmacy/Commerce
The Bachelor of Pharmacy/Commerce gives you an opportunity to add valuable business skills to your degree. The double degree has a broad scope that many employers find attractive. Students who combine the skills of pharmacy and commerce, may find careers in the following areas, in addition to those listed above:

- media
