Centre for Drug Candidate Optimisation - Pricing Models
Partner requirements for lead optimisation studies are accommodated according to the complexity of the synthetic chemistry, the stage of the discovery biology and developmental programs, and the competitive and commercial environment for the project.
Pricing is based on a full-time-equivalent (FTE) scientist model. Partners typically contract the Centre to provide the services of scientists at a rate of 0.25, 0.5 or 1.0 FTE to support the activities of the particular project over a rolling 12 month period.
Collaborative projects are based on full cost recovery with project developed intellectual property being solely owned by the partner. This arrangement offers certainty of intellectual property rights to the partner, is transparent to all users and allows for rapid initiation of projects.
Fees for each project are charged on a sliding scale that includes salary and on-costs, chemicals, consumables, equipment and maintenance charges, project administration and management costs. An overhead charge provides for the on-going sustainable development and enhancement of the Centre’s infrastructure and activities.
When working with not-for-profit partners and research institutes, the Centre considers projects of this type on a case-by-case basis after reviewing the portfolio of projects within the Centre, the strategic value of the project and collaboration, and the ability to fund the research program.
