History of the degrees

 1915   Four-year pharmacy apprenticeship system commenced in accordance with the Medical Act
 1929  Fellowship course introduced (FPS by examination)
 1960  Full-time three-year pharmacy course commenced
 1968  Bachelor of Pharmacy degree awarded as the first non-university degree in Australia
 1970  Master of Pharmacy degree approved
 1970  Intersearch program developed between the college and the University of Kansas in order to award PhDs
 1973  Doctor of Pharmacy degree established by the Pharmaceutical Soceity for its members and funded entirely by the society
 1978  Graduate Diploma in Hospital Pharmacy commenced (ended 1986)
 1983  Graduate Diploma in Community Pharmacy commenced (ended 1986)
 1984  College became a declared institution, thus accrediting its own courses
 1986  College recognised as Department of Pharmaceutical Science of the University of Melbourne for the purpose of conducting Doctor of Philosophy programmes
 1992  Monash University amalgamation. Students can now be awarded a PhD through Monash
 1994  Commencement of the honours degree of Bachelor of Pharmacy. New BPharm and MPharm regulations approved by the college board
 1995  Graduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy was introduced (now a Masters program)
 1996  Redesignation of the honours degree of Bachelor of Pharmacy as the honours degree of Pharmaceutical Science and Master of Pharmacy as the Master of Pharmaceutical Science
 1997  Four-year Bachelor of Pharmacy commences
 1998  Bachelor of Pharmacy/Bachelor of Commerce degree program commences
 2000  The commencement of the three-year Bachelor of Formulation Science
 2000  The Graduate Certificate in Wound Care commenced
 2002  Inception of the Pharmacy Management Program
 2003  The college introduced the three-year Bachelor of Medicinal Chemistry
 2004  Graduate Diploma and Masters in Wound Care commenced
 2004  Introduction of the Monash University Pre-Registration Course and Graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice
 2006  Commencement of the Graduate Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sales
 2007  Introduction of the Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science to replace the Bachelor of Formulation Science
 2007  First year that the combined bachelors degree in Engineering/Pharmaceutical Science will be offered
